Happiness & Looking Back

Today (September 19th) is the one year anniversary of the Ministry of Happiness!  As with any new endeavor, one year ago I wondered if this would fly.  Would anyone actually read what I had to say?  Would it be beneficial to people to write this?

As with anything we do, we do things for a number of reasons, some selfish, some altruistic.  I truly hoped, and still do, that the words provided in this blog would help those who read it live a happier life.  We’re not talking about miraculous change here, but small nudges, leading to incremental improvement.  I’ve certainly struck some chords, you have told me so, how else would I know?  As a blogger you eternally hope for more comments than you get, sometimes it feels like you are on stage screaming to an empty hall.  The nicest surprise from the past year is that the I’ve received more feedback about the Ministry of Happiness than I have for anything else I’ve ever written.  Thank you for your readership, your feedback and for helping me help you live a happier life.

The selfish reason for writing this blog and starting the Ministry, has always been to help me in a long-time pursuit to cultivate the subtle energies of life.  To look at the small things, take joy and happiness where I can find them, find acceptance of myself and others and try to give a little something back.  I asked myself a very simple question tonight, am I happier because of the Ministry of Happiness?  I am, I hope you are to, thanks for a great year, and here’s to the next.  Have a happy day my friends.

  1. There are many days that I read your blog and it gives me wisdom to meditate on. Other times I laugh at your humor or I feel your depth & sensitivities to mans heart. You are a true friend, a creative smart ass and a brilliant writer because you have learned how to speak and love form the heart. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and adventures with us.
