Happiness Resources: Happiness & Money
Making money isn’t hard in itself… What’s hard is to earn it doing something worth devoting one’s life to ~ Carlos Ruiz Zafon
Tonight I wanted to talk about money and happiness, the old adage of course is that money can’t buy happiness, but is that true. In some sense it really can by providing the basics of human survival, the lower levels of Maslow Hierarchy of Needs. It’s really hard to be happy if you’re hungry or sick or homeless. Studies show that in fact money can put you in a position to be happy and data suggests that there is a level of salary that accomplishes that and the magic number for happiness is $75K or at least some studies suggest. Research also shows that those of us who spend our money and time giving to others are happier, and buying experiences makes you more happy than buying things.
